- Tamil Nadu is the southernmost state of India.

Geography
- Tamil Nadu covers an area of 130,058 km2 (the 10th largest Indian State).
- The southernmost tip of the Indian Peninsula is Kanyakumari.
- The eastern parts are fertile coastal plains and the northern parts are a mix of hills and plains. The central and south-central regions are arid plains and receive less rainfall than the other regions.
- Tamil Nadu has the country’s third-longest coastline at about 906.9 km.
- Pamban Island is located between Peninsular India and Sri Lanka.
